Timpview High School

Dear Timpview Community-

We hope you are enjoying summer and are finding ways to stay cool.

We wanted to keep you up to date on the flourish of activities occurring on our Timpview campus due to construction. We are appreciative of your patience and flexibility while this major project takes place.

Summary of Construction Projects

The north parking lot (shown in red on map) will be the site of our new 3-story academic wing that will house English, FCS, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Language classrooms. For safety reasons, this should no longer be used for public parking nor for student drop-off/pick-up because it’s a construction zone.

In addition, the new 3-story academic wing will tie into the main building where the commons and auditorium hallway now sit. This will result in changes to our traffic flow inside Timpview. Doors will be built into the north and south side of the auditorium foyer for students to move between the A-wing and main campus, and a covered walkway will be built in the commons to protect students traveling between the academic wing and the cafeteria or D-Wing and I-wing.

This part of the construction plan also necessitated moving our financial office and attendance office, which will now be housed within the main office

We also want to acknowledge some of the work that has occurred on the south end of Timpivew’s campus where a new practice field, tennis courts, and south gym were completed in the spring. Construction began first at the site of the south gym because that area was most heavily impacted by the shifting soils beneath our building.

Please, note that Timpview is safe for occupancy and conditions are constantly being monitored while state of the art measures are being implemented in the design of the new building to prevent the recurrence of the problems that made this construction project necessary. Before construction is complete a new softball field will be installed just south of the south gym.

Finally, construction is currently taking place east of the D-wing that will enclose the campus between the Thunderdome and the south weight room. Over the next 3 years, the D-wing will be rebuilt to house our new dance studios, locker rooms, athletic trainer room, mobility room, and clean CTE classrooms.

How Construction will Impact Timpview Families

Beginning in August, the main office will also house the attendance and finance offices. All services not provided by the counseling office will take place in the main office. Please use the entrance on the west side to access these facilities.

Student drop-off/pick-up (shown in yellow on map) has been moved to the west parking lot where there is signage for this purpose.

The public can also park in the west parking lot until August 9, which is the first day our teachers return to work. Then, beginning August 9, the west parking lot will revert to Timpview faculty/staff/visitor parking. Please know the west parking lot will house 8 visitor parking spots and ADA parking that will always be available for the public.

With the loss of our north parking lot for the next 3 school years, we ask that you begin planning for transportation needs to/from Timpview because parking will be limited to the surrounding streets and the parking lot owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 555 E 3230 N (M-F from 7:00-4:00 only). We are cognizant of the need to be good neighbors to the properties surrounding Timpview and hope you will assist us with those efforts.

If possible, we ask our students to carpool, walk, bike, and avoid driving to school altogether as part of our comprehensive plan to address limited parking on campus.

Timpview will continue to host extra-curricular events on campus during all phases of construction despite parking limitations. In all instances, please, plan for extra time to park when coming on campus.

We acknowledge the disruption these construction plans will cause to our normal way of functioning as a school community. It goes without saying that all of us will be impacted one way or another, so we greatly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work through these known and unforeseen challenges. We believe, in the end, that Timpview families will benefit greatly from the new facilities.

Thank you, in advance, for your understanding.
