Graduates and Parents/Guardians of Graduates,

We are excited to announce our graduation automotive procession plans to honor our Class of 2020 for meeting the graduation requirements as set forth by the State of Utah.  We are so proud of our Class of 2020 for their incredible high school careers and outstanding academic excellence!

Automotive Procession

Date: Thursday, May 21, 2020

Time: Procession starts at 6:00pm (anticipated to end at around 8:00pm)

Location: Timpview High School

Graduates with their families are invited to drive northbound on Timpview Drive to be recognized, walk across a stage, and receive a diploma cover.  We will be making the procession route an engaging and exciting experience for our graduates.

Please arrive during your assigned route time.

6:00pm – 6:30pm – Last Name A-D 6:30pm – 7:00pm – Last Name E-K 7:00pm – 7:30pm – Last Name L-R 7:30pm – 8:00pm – Last Name S-Z

Please note the following procedures and guidelines.

We encourage families to get creative and decorate their cars in celebration of graduates. All participants must enter our staging/start area at the beginning of the procession line located at the church building at 2900 Timpview Drive, Provo, UT 84604.  As cars enter the south entrance of the staging/start area parking lot, the graduates will receive a name-card.  Graduates must bring their name-card with them as they exit the car.  That name will be read as the graduate walks across the stage.  If the graduate does not have a name-card to present, the graduate will be asked to go back to the staging/start area to receive an official name-card. Our automotive procession can only accommodate one car per graduate.  While we are not encouraging you gather, if additional friends and family members choose to line up on Timpview Drive, we strongly recommend you follow health and social distancing guidelines.  Areas near the school will be blocked off and cars will not be able to park on along Timpview Drive in designated areas.  The school parking lots will be closed to the general public, as well. Graduates should plan to wear their graduation regalia (e.g., caps, gowns, tassels, and cords). Graduates will turn right into the band parking lot area.  (Only cars with a graduate with be permitted into the band parking lot area.)  At the driveway in the band parking lot, the graduate will exit the car to enter a line in preparation for crossing the stage.  When the graduate is ready to cross the stage, the graduate will walk up the stage, have their name read aloud, and take one diploma cover from the table on the stage. Upon leaving the stage, the graduate will have an opportunity to take a picture with a celebratory sign.  Bell photography will take a professional photograph that will be provided after the automotive procession.  Details about how to retrieve the photograph are forthcoming.  After getting a photograph taken, the graduate will get back in their car and leave the band parking lot at the north exit.  All traffic will be directed going east on Quail Valley Drive to keep the flow of the automotive procession moving at a reasonable pace. We will leave the large signs up a few days after the event so families and graduates can come back at their convenience to take personal photographs with the signs at another time. Only graduates may exit the car.  All other family members and friends must stay inside their car for the duration of the automotive procession. Graduates may choose to wear health/safety masks and gloves.  Any adults or graduates that are ill or showing symptoms of sickness must stay home. Please be courteous and kind to all community members on the road.  Drivers, make sure to be attentive to road conditions and drive carefully through the automotive procession; be prepared for stop-and-go traffic.  We want to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone. See the attached maps for a visual of the automotive procession route and flow.

**Everyone must obey social distancing rules and traffic laws.

We still plan to hold this event in the case of inclement weather.  We will keep you updated on any changes.

Please contact a school counselor if you have any questions.

More information about the release of the virtual graduation experience is forthcoming.  Stay tuned…
