The Thunderbird girls tennis team found itself locked in a dogfight with Olympus with the 5A state championship on the line. First or second place came down to how Anna Fellers and Maddie Austin did in the No. 2 Doubles final.

Competing not only against Woods Cross’s Jenna Hinkle and Payton Kossin but also against the pressure of the moment, Fellers and Austin came up big in the third set. They roared to the 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win to win the division championship.

That victory also gave Timpview a tie with Olympus for the team crown, giving the Thunderbirds their first girls tennis title since 2013.
