Timpview High School’s Math Team team placed first in their national bracket of the Math Madness competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). The competition is modeled after college basketball’s March Madness, with online matches that are 30 minutes in duration with 8 questions.  Ideally, teams play live against each other. The Champion Timpview Math team won all of their matches (8-0) this year.  Their opponents were mostly STEM magnet schools, gifted schools, and private schools (one had a tuition of $35000/yr !) although any school can sign up to play.  We had a “deep bench” with over 30 players although there were about 9 or 10 “varsity” players.
