Timpview High School

Timpview HS’ Latinos in Action (LIA) wanted to do a service project for the community and they decided they wanted to help out Utah Valley mothers and their young babies in need.  They reached out to WIC  (Women, Infants, and Children) and proposed a fundraiser in goods for mothers and babies.  WIC agreed that they would allow us to help them out.

LIA  did research on the amount of babies born in Utah.  Many of those babies don’t really have the necessary things they need, for example, diapers, formula milk, baby bottles, hats, and socks, just to name a few.  LIA organized a competition with all the classes at school to see which class would collect the most baby items.  They promoted it on our social media, on the school social media, and hung posters up around the school.  They also made announcements every morning to remind the school of what they were collecting.

The turnout was amazing we collected 5,707 baby items!!!

The president of LIA, Ana G., said, “We were very excited that the school participated in helping us help mothers and babies in need. Latinos in Action was very happy that the whole school decided to help us out.  We are grateful to the wonderful administration for supporting us to do this specific service project. We received many diapers, baby wipes, clothing items, baby bottles, blankets, toys, pacifiers. We even received some items like a baby carrier.
