2.      Learning expectations

Essential Learning Standards:

Create works of art, manipulate art media, using elements and principles of art

Find meaning by analyzing, criticizing and evaluation works of art

Create meaning in art

Find meaning in works of art through settings and other modes of learning

3.      Assessment of progress and achievement

Class Work: This is a studio class, which means most of our work will be completed in class. Some students may feel they need additional time to complete assignments. For this reason, many assignments will be accepted up to one week late without penalty. After an assignment is more than one week late it will receive late credit.

The work you turn in must be your own, created specifically for this class. Cheating will not be tolerated. See school policy for academic integrity in the student handbook.

4.      Course materials

Fees and materials: There is a class fee per semester, which covers basic art supplies. Pay your fee at the cashier’s office to Ms. Wood’s art account. Students will be responsible for providing some of their other supplies.

5.      classroom procedures

Attendance: Be on time! See school policy in the student handbook.

Tardies: Students that are not in the class and ready for instruction are considered tardy (see school policy for penalties and make-ups). Students are expected to sign the tardy log upon entering the class after the bell. If a late student fails to sign the tardy log after the role has been taken they will be counted as absent.

Truancies: See school policy in the student handbook. A student who leaves the room without permission will receive a truant.

Class rules:

No eating or drinking in the classroom.

No personal music equipment or cell phones. These items will be removed. See school policy for electronic devices in the student handbook.

Dress modestly: See school policy for dress and grooming standards in the student handbook.

“G” rated art room: No swearing, no violence, no sexual language or behavior. See school and district policy for standards of statement on orderly and safe schools in the student handbook.

RESPECT: Good manners should govern all student and adult behavior at all times in and outside of class. Respect of teacher, classroom equipment, our school, classmates, and self are expected at all times.

Students are expected to take care of all classroom equipment and will be responsible for any damages. Fines will be charged for damaged equipment.

Clean up: Everyone ls expected to clean up work areas at the end of class. Students will not be dismissed from class until cleanup Is complete.
