Zumba

Class Description

Zumba is a fusion of Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow aerobic moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program. Zumba routines utilize the principles of interval and resistance training to maximize fat burning and total body toning. Zumba enthusiasts achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one class of calorie-burning, body-energizing movements.

Participation Make-Up Options:

All make-ups are done during consultation. You can run two miles, lift (ONLY if you have taken Bailey’s weight class) or Zumba. A calendar will be posted on Bailey’s door with weekly options.

If you are unable to attend consultation you have a few opportunities to make up your attendance on your own.

You can attend another Zumba class at any gym or church. The class does need to be an hour long. You can find classes at www.zumba.com (Links to an external site.). After you attend the class you need to turn in the following:

A SELFIE OF YOU DURING THE CLASS AND AFTER WITH THE INSTRUCTOR

You also need to turn in a written paragraph about the class including but not limited to the following details:

Where was the class?

Who was the instructor?

Did you attend with anyone?

Things you remember about the class that was fun.

Any reflection on the class, how you felt, the energy in the class, etc.

REMEMBER ALL PARTICIPATION MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENTS NEED TO BE TURNED IN NO LATER THAN ONE WEEK OF YOUR ABSENCE. If you need more time it is your responsibility to discuss a timeline to turn them in with Coach Bailey

Running  two miles is the next make-up option.

Turn in a paragraph within one week of your absence including the following

OPTION #1

*Where you ran

*How long it took you

*Three selfies. I need to see sweat:)

The first selfie has to be taken with your face and watch showing your start time. Example 5:30 p.m. or 12:15 p.m. NOT 00:00 on a stop watch. The actual time of day.

The second and third selfies need to be taken with your face showing your time at the end of each mile. Mile one and mile two.

OPTION #2

If you have a smart watch that will track your distance, time, calories, heart rate etc., you can simply send me the workout summary. No selfies needed.

ZUMBA FINAL PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

In your first paragraph give a brief description of Zumba as well as your goals and accomplishments while taking the class (ex. Why did you sign up for this class, what were you hoping to get out of the class, what did you accomplish). Following your introduction, dedicate one paragraph to each of the five elements of fitness. Name and describe each of the areas of fitness and how Zumba can and/or did help you improve in each area. Additionally, include before and after fitness testing scores, measurements, etc, obstacles (if any that were presented while trying to accomplish your goals), whether or not you reached your goal and what you will do in the future to continue improving in all areas of fitness. In your final paragraph, summarize your experience in Zumba, goals and steps you plan to take to maintain and/or continue to grow in each area of fitness.
