UVU Accuplacer Test: Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Accuplacer Test?

The Accuplacer test helps place students where they are most likely to thrive in their academic pursuits. It meets the assessment needs of community colleges, four-year colleges, technical schools, and high schools. Accuplacer is a web-based assessment tool to determine skills in reading, writing, and math. You cannot fail the test. Your score will determine what classes you should take and when you will begin taking them.

UVU Accuplacer Assessment exam will be offered free of charge on a walk-in basis 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM on August 26, 2017 in the Provo High School Commons, 1125 North University Ave, Provo, UT.

Requirements to take the exam at Provo High School are a UVU ID number and current photo ID. Students unable to test on this date will have to tests on campus in the Wolverine Testing Center

Note: School partnerships allow students to take the Accuplacer test in the Provo School District one time only. Exam repeats or section repeats of the exam must be taken on the UVU campus. A fee of $10 cash will be charged per section, or if taking the full Accpulacer for the first time at UVU. Visit the UVU Testing Services website for their summer hours and testing information.

Who should take the Accuplacer exam?

Students registered for CP English, CE English, College Algebra/Trig, or Quantitative Reasoning Math 1030 next year who do not meet the UVU ACT requirements

Sophomore students without EXPLORE scores in a Concurrent Enrollment (CE) class wanting college credit being offered. Students must meet all requirements outline on the UVU Sophomore by Exception Application NOTE: Sophomore’s must meet the UVU prerequisite ACT or Accuplaer Math section for enrollment in College algebra/Trig (MATH 1050). The Regent Scholarship requires college enrollment for ALL STUDENTS in the course for scholarship eligibilty

Students taking Distance Education (DE) classes of ENG 1010, ENG 2010, or PHIL 205G who don’t meet ACT or course prerequisites. See Mrs. Pulver in the library to see if this applies to you!

How do I get a UVU ID number?

Become a student of UVU. Log on to the UVU CE website and follow the instructions outlined in Admissions Only Once and complete the online application. Applications process by paying the one-time, nonrefundable admission fee is $35, payable at the end of the application on their secure website. The application can take 24-48 hours to process before you are assigned your UV ID number. Please plan accordingly.
