Basics About the Attendance Policy

- 1. Preparation for School
- Prioritize a good night’s sleep and healthy breakfast.
- Arrive on time daily, ready to learn.
- 2. Attendance Tracking
- Use the PowerSchool app for real-time attendance monitoring:
- Green: Good attendance (0-40 points).
- Yellow: Borderline attendance (41-80 points).
- Red: Poor attendance (81+ points).
- Families should keep PowerSchool contact info updated for alerts.
- 3. Tardies and Absences
- Tardies are unexcused, including for the first period.
- Parents have 72 hours to excuse absences.Best method: Respond to attendance text alerts.
- Unexcused absences and tardies incur points in the system:Points vary by the duration of tardiness (1-4 points) and absence/skipping (5-6 points).
- 4. Eligibility for Activities
- Students with fewer than 81 points per term can participate in extracurricular activities.
- Weekly attendance reports determine participation eligibility:Red status on Monday: Suspension from activities that week.
- Points can be recovered for eligibility in the next report, but not to make someone eligible that week.
- 5. Point Recovery
- Attendance Recovery Classes (ARC):Scheduled Monday-Friday (mornings only on Fridays).
- Each hour attended earns back 6 points.
- Must arrive on time to earn credit.
